🌿 Bijrani Tourist Zone: A Haven for Wildlife Enthusiasts

Bijrani Tourist Zone is a very popular area of the spectacular Corbett Tiger Reserve. This zone is enriched with a huge number of floral and faunal species. Bijrani gives a tough competition to Dhikala zone while the tourist’s preferences are concerned. The zone is known for its wonderful landscape and is a very calm and quiet place. The beauty of this place is appreciated by all the visitors. This is one of the most tiger-rich areas of the park. Bijrani consists of a mixed topography with dense Sal forests combined with grasslands. The entry to this zone is through the Aamdanda Gate.

Bijrani Forest Zone is also a part of the spectacular Jim Corbett National Park. It is blessed with all the flora and fauna found in Corbett Park. The zone is very calm and quiet, and the beauty of this place is unbelievable. The zone is in proximity to the popular entry zone Aamdanda. It consists of a mixed topography with dense Sal forests combined with grasslands. After entering into this park, it is about a five-kilometer buffer zone while arriving at the Bijrani camp.

🛏️ Accommodation & Forest Rest Houses

Within the Bijrani Zone, authentic Forest Rest Houses are located in two places: Bijrani and Malani.

• Bijrani Rest House: It features a total of 06 rooms (Four with double beds and two with a single bed) and a dormitory consisting of four beds. The compound has its own restaurant and canteen. Elephant rides into the jungle are available from here. The region is frequented by wild animals and birds unperturbed by human interventions. The chances of spotting a tiger, Sloth bear, and a herd of elephants are quite high in this part of the park.
• Malani Rest House: Located deeper in the zone, it has 02 rooms (Double bed) and is very popular among birdwatchers and tourists seeking a peaceful place. The picturesque beauty of Malani is magnificent. It is endowed with wide grasslands, thick forests, and huge water drains.

🐅 Major Attractions in Bijrani Zone

• Bijrani Safari Zone: Located just a few kilometers from Ramnagar, it is known for having a good number of resorts nearby. This zone shows a rich population of tigers and offers wonderful sightings. The Amdanda Gate serves as the entrance and consists of buffer, tourism, and core areas. Safaris are conducted in the morning and evening slots outside the core boundaries. To protect the habitat, a limited number of vehicles are allowed at a time on any given path. Visitors can also opt for full-day Jeep safaris for maximum wildlife viewing.
• Chaurs (Grasslands): The expansive grasslands near Bijrani namely Machaan Chaur, Badhai Chaur, and Ringora Chaur add immensely to the serene attraction of the forests.

🌳 Flora & Fauna

The forest area of Bijrani is purely serene and perfect for a tranquil atmosphere. The forest vegetation is mainly Sal along with wide grasslands (Chaur). The topography here is a bit drier and has a diverse character. Several types of deer and antelopes namely Chital (Axis axis), Hog Deer or Para (Axis pornicus), Sambar (Cervus Unicolor), and Kakkar (Muntiacus Muntjak) are regularly seen here.

While it is a great place to spot Royal Bengal Tigers and wild elephants, it is also a preferred destination for birdwatchers. Additionally, the chances of spotting Sloth Bears are high in these forests. They are attracted by termites and the sweet nectar of Mahua flowers. Bears have often been recorded in an intoxicated state when the Mahua ferments in their digestive system!
